[With all the supposed fear and panic that the town has tried to recently instill on the residents, such matters actually don't affect a new arrival. Especially one who doesn't watch TV or recieve mail yet. Which is why you'll find someone trotting down the street.

Yes, trotting.

Applejack has decided that if she's stuck here, she might as well be neighborly and introduce herself. So she borrowed her house's kitchen and supplies to make a couple of homemade apple pies. Using years of practice, she keeps them balanced on her back as she moves from house to house, knocking on each door and calling out:]

"Hello? Anypony in there? It's your new neighbor Applejack being friendly and bringing some pie for ya!"

[And no, unless you're a drone who treats her like a dog, or keep her from seeing you in there, she is not leaving until you do answer. Though once answered, she will offer you a nice slice of some delicious smelling apple pie! She'll introduce herself as well, offer to help out if you need it because you're neighbors after all, and she'll also pepper you with questions about the town as she tries to find out more information about Mayfield. She's not being subtle about the questions, but not forceful either, she is genuinely trying to get information in a way she knows how and being sincere in her offers of help and pie.]

((OOC: Applejack is literally going door to door to offer slices of pie and get some answers, as such she's pretty much breathing in massive truth gas. But this is Applejack, who's pretty honest to begin with so it really won't affect her unless she hits Stage 5. So folks who want to respond can just sit back and chat with AJ or try and figure out how to get an orange talking pony off their front porch.))

Really? That some kind of magic they're able to do then?

And normally Ah'd argue about that, since where Ah come from, all ponies can talk. Unless they're just lil' fillies or something's wrong with them. But it seems a lot of you hue-min folks come from places where they don't talk.

Ah still find that a bit odd, mahself. Ah mean, how do they talk to their friends or families if they don't talk?

Well ain't you a polite one! But that's okay, Ah've got other neighbors to visit, so need to save them a few slices if'n Ah can. Besides, Ah can always bake mahself another pie when Ah get back home.

Oh right, those 'drones' will just treat me like a dog, huh? Well, Ah guess that would be a good reason to get mah one housemate out and about. He seems pretty determined to be a shut-in...

Yeah, Ah sure learned that as well... Still, Ah try mah best to remember they're there to help out too if'n Ah ever need it.

Ah hope you've got some good friends here, Ah couldn't imagine being stuck here without a friend or two, you know?

It's a double edged sword, though, isn't it? It is nice to have friends here, but...

... I wouldn't wish this place on them. In some ways, it's better that they aren't here.

You probably won't learn much of anything, but I guess you're free to do whatever you want.

You couldn't at first? Was that something to do with this town? Somebody mentioned to me before they take things from you and sometimes return them. Ah thought it was just items at first, but mah other friend Rarity didn't have her horn when she woke up here, so Ah guess it can almost anything important... Ah'm glad to hear you got it back though!

Maybe not right away, but it seems time is something we all have a lot of here, isn't it? Ah'm sure if Ah ask enough different people, Ah'll find some sort of clue to help us out.

And at the same time, Ah'll be meeting new folks and making new friends, which is always a good thing.

[Applejack is a little surprised at the sudden door slam but merely gives a huff as she turns and walks off to the next house, muttering to herself.]

Well that was a rude way of saying goodbye. Going to have to remember get him out of the doorway next time Ah bring some food or visit.

[Applejack quirks an eyebrow at the patting, but that's all. After all, most of these hue-mins are taller than her, so maybe they see her as a little kid. She's given Apple Bloom a pat on the head many times herself, after all.]

Thanks, baking's just something Ah do a lot of to help with selling apples. They're good on their own of course, but folks enjoy variety just as much as the next pony does after all. Still, Ah've had a lot of practice at it, so Ah like to think mah baking isn't too shabby.

And Ah'm just trying to be neighborly, really, you should see mah friend Rarity, she's the generous one!

You've got a pretty good point there, and Ah sure as hay know folks can be more stubborn than what's good for 'em, but Ah'm not just about to give up on him yet. He just strikes me as someone who could use a few good friends, you know?

You could say that again... Most of mah friends and Ah seemed to just appeared here at the same time, except for Dash. She probably handled it alright, but she sure seemed glad to see us here now.

The only good friend of mine who isn't here is Fluttershy and Ah just cringe thinking how she would handle a place like this...

(Nods.)

I can understand da sentiment. But ya also hafta have a thick skin when dealing wid dose grumpy folks; dey can be downright nasty when dey don't feel like being sociable.

[Flatly:] Yeah. Well. Tell me how it goes.

[Wryly.] Yes, well, I wouldn't speak up too loudly. The city might hear you.

Yeah, powers and stuff go away for a while. It took months before the water stopped just lying there all quiet and not doing anything. It was kinda lonely. Everyone kept saying it would come back, but waiting was hard!

Well, it's nice to see your patience paid off! Must be like meeting up with an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, huh?

[Applejack merely gets everything ready before giving him a look.]

You know, one of these days you should really try meeting your neighbors. With that kinda attitude, it seems like you would need to be threaten with death before going next door.

Ya, Ah know, but if Ah'm going to be stuck living with 'em, it'd be nice if they were a little nicer, but Ah know Ah can't push for it too hard. Ah don't really want them to be something they're not, nor do Ah want them to get stubborn about it...

Ah well, ah guess ah should just ask first and worry about it if they actually say no. Thanks for the info and help!

Why? Would they town take it as some sort of challenge? Ah do get this odd feeling this place has a weird sense of humor it enjoys springing on us....

Yeah, that was exactly how it was! We hadn't talked in so long, there was so much for me and the water to say!
